CJSR FunDrive!

As many of you who are regular listeners of BPM realize, the last week has been FunDrive for CJSR FM 88.5 Edmonton. This is a crucial time for the station - as a public, community broadcaster, CJSR doesn't run many paid ads, and only has a small paid staff to run the show. This is a volunteer powered organization - I do not get paid to do BPM, it is a project I run every week as a passion, not a paycheque. And for that reason, CJSR is able to bring an diverse range of programmes that is not beholden to corporate interests, which is why I have the freedom to host a show like BPM for you to enjoy every week. What's more, anyone can volunteer to be a part of the station. Truly radio for the people, by the people.

However, for all of us to enjoy this enormous privilege, we must turn to the community for financial support, to ensure CJSR has the bank to pay for everything from equipment upgrades to pens. Limited advertising, grants and such can only raise so much - almost a third of CJSR's operational budget must come from listener donations!

Last week, many of you came forward during BPM with pledges and donations, helping raise over $2500 through the course of the show, and it's greatly appreciated. Now, as FunDrive comes to a close, the station still needs your help. It's so gravely vital, you don't even realize!

So right now, please call 780-492-2577 or hit www.CJSR.com and make a pledge. It doesn't have to be much, whatever you can afford. If BPM means anything to you, or brings you any joy, as it does for me to share it with you, whereever you are in the world, please consider making your support known to all of CJSR's tireless volunteers with your kind donation.

Do it NOW, please. Don't wait! And tune into BPM on CJSR FM 88.5 in Edmonton at 6 pm MST (www.cjsr.com)

Thanks so much!
